Development Department responds to COVID-19

Code Enforcement Schedule during Pandemic

It is important that we are available to our property owners and customers. In an effort to continue to being accessible, our office is closed to the public, therefore to discuss your case with the Code Enforcement Officer, please call our office at 816-630-0756. He will get your message and return your call between 8-9 a.m., 11 a.m. to 12 p.m., and 3:30 to 4:00 p.m.

Notice to Landlords

The health and safety of our inspectors and the public is a top concern. In the interest of public safety, the City We have suspended all rental inspections, however landlords are still required to call our office and notify staff of a tenant change. We will schedule an inspection at some point in the future. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding as we face this public health emergency together.

Submitting Your Building Permit

In an effort to continue operating at the same level of service for our customers while practicing social distancing, we recommend that builders and contractors utilize our online permitting process. We are issuing permits and allowing customers to mail their payment into our office or drop it in the outside drop box.

The most effective way to submit a building permit application is by this link: https://talktomycity.com/search/Exc01.

There is also a permit form available that can be printed off and completed: https://cityofesmo.com/pdflibrary/buildingpermit.pdf.

Because we understand the importance of work continuing, we will continue with building inspections. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we face this public health emergency together.
