Beginning Saturday, June 19th, please try to avoid the area of Miller and Dunbar through the first of next week. Saturday they will do base repairs and prepare for an asphalt overlay that will begin on Monday. The intersection of Dunbar and Concourse will be closed to through traffic during this time. Transportation Trust approved an allocation of $600,000 for the project which includes new sidewalks, curbs, and driveway entrances.
The North Jesse James improvement project will also begin. The project is funded through matching grants made possible by the investment of Miller’s Cabinets. The project budget consists of $500,000 grant from EDA, a $400,000 grant from CDBG and $100,000 from Capital Improvements. Work to be done includes an intersection modification, road widening with new curbs and gutter, road extension with cul-de-sac, and stormwater improvements. A bike lane will be incorporated along one shoulder of the road.
