{"id":3178,"date":"2020-04-02T19:48:09","date_gmt":"2020-04-02T19:48:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cityofesmo.com\/?page_id=3178"},"modified":"2020-04-02T20:39:22","modified_gmt":"2020-04-02T20:39:22","slug":"utility-assistance-program","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/cityofesmo.com\/index.php\/water-department\/utility-assistance-program\/","title":{"rendered":"Utility Assistance Program"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>City of Excelsior Springs expands utility assistance program support to residents during the coronavirus pandemic.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>On April 2, the City of Excelsior Springs amended its Utility Assistance Program temporarily to help residents that may be impacted financially by the COVID-19 pandemic. With this in mind, we have temporarily amended our assistance program to allow those who are unemployed to participate in the program. This program is administered by the <a href=\"https:\/\/goodsamaritancenter.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Good Samaritan Center<\/a>. The temporary guidelines for this program are:<\/p>\n<p class=\"m_-367153796155382457MsoListParagraph\">1. The applicant must have an active water account with the City of Excelsior Springs.<\/p>\n<p class=\"m_-367153796155382457MsoListParagraph\">2. The applicant must satisfy one of the following three requirements:<\/p>\n<p class=\"m_-367153796155382457MsoListParagraph\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-158\" src=\"https:\/\/cityofesmo.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/spacer.png\" alt=\"spacer\" width=\"12\" height=\"6\" \/>A. Be unemployed (and able to provide proof of unemployment).<\/p>\n<p class=\"m_-367153796155382457MsoListParagraph\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-158\" src=\"https:\/\/cityofesmo.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/spacer.png\" alt=\"spacer\" width=\"12\" height=\"6\" \/>B. If Senior, Disabled, or a Homeowner the applicant\u2019s household income must be at or below 150% of the federal government\u2019s poverty level.<\/p>\n<p class=\"m_-367153796155382457MsoListParagraph\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-158\" src=\"https:\/\/cityofesmo.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/spacer.png\" alt=\"spacer\" width=\"12\" height=\"6\" \/>C. All other applicants must be at or below 135% of the federal government\u2019s poverty level.<\/p>\n<p class=\"m_-367153796155382457MsoListParagraph\">3. The maximum assistance to any account is $160 in 12 months.<\/p>\n<p class=\"m_-367153796155382457MsoListParagraph\">4. If the applicant is unemployed he\/she must provide documentation of his\/her unemployment. If the applicant is not unemployed he\/she must provide proof of income for the past 30 days.<\/p>\n<p class=\"m_-367153796155382457MsoListParagraph\">5. The applicant must provide ID for anyone 18 or older residing in the household and the social security cards for everyone residing in the household regardless of age.<\/p>\n<p class=\"m_-367153796155382457MsoListParagraph\">6. Once the applicant is approved, the Good Samaritan Center will provide the City with a voucher and the City will apply the funds to the customer\u2019s account. The Good Samaritan Center will not share any of the information provided above with the City.<\/p>\n<p class=\"m_-367153796155382457MsoListParagraph\">7. This program is available until the funds are exhausted.<\/p>\n<p>The applicant should call 816-630-2718 to setup an appointment with the Good Samaritan Center or if they have any questions regarding the program. The applicant should take a copy of their water bill to the Good Samaritan Center.<\/p>\n<p>The City of Excelsior Springs remains committed to doing what it can to help its customers, employees, and the community during this unprecedented health crisis.
