Yard waste is free to residents of Excelsior Springs, bulky item drop off has normal fees that apply to Excelsior Springs residents. There will still be one supervisor at the site but residents will need to offload all material themselves while maintaining social distancing. Names will not be recorded on the roster. Landfills are still open and residents can dispose of those items at Courtney Ridge in Sugar Creek, Mo.<\/p>\n

Effective February 24, 2023:<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0Batliner has suspended their collection of co-mingled plastic again. We are removing the bin and will cease taking co-mingled plastic at the recycle drop-off site. This does not affect the curbside recycling. \u2022 Corrugated cardboard, paperboard or chipboard, carrier stock (cardboard soft drink and beer boxes) Things you cannot recycle at the drop-off site:<\/strong> We do not accept household hazardous materials such as paint, batteries, oil or any other toxic chemical. These can be recycled at the Kansas City Collection Center<\/strong> located at 4707 Deramus St., KCMO 64120 Thursday and Friday 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. No appointment necessary. Also, Lee\u2019s Summit Facility<\/strong>, operated by KC Dumpster Company, 816-287-2221, is open Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 7:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. No appointment necessary. Residents of non-participating communities may access the Lee\u2019s Summit Facility and pay a fee of $2 per pound for HHW material. (See additional notice, below.)<\/p>\n The City of Excelsior Springs is a member of the Regional Household Hazardous Waste Program, a service coordinated by the MARC Solid Waste Management District in partnership with the City of Kansas City, Mo., and Lee\u2019s Summit, Mo. Residents have year round access to the safe disposal of unwanted products such as paint, lawn and garden chemicals, automotive fluids, batteries, fluorescent bulbs and housecleaners. Business waste is NOT accepted.<\/strong> Residents can access the permanent facilities in Lee’s Summit and Kansas City and can also attend any of the mobile events scheduled April through October. Excelsior Springs residents can bring their HHW products free of charge to either of two collection facilities, or to any of the collection events held April through October.
